Best of Chobe Photo Safari

With this great photographic itinerary you'll get to explore the Chobe River at it's entirety. The Chobe creates incredibly unique photo opportunities, especially during the boat safaris when you're able to view animals and birds in a different way from the water and use the unique angels at water level.

Day 1 to 3

Chobe River

Separating Botswana from Namibia, the Chobe River is both an international border and a fantastic place to see wildlife. It offers many different subject matter with everything from large mammals such as elephants, buffalo and hippos, as well as resident crocs and antelope, and endless amounts of birds that call Chobe their home.

The reason Pangolin was started in the Chobe is because there is always something to photograph here. No matter what animals we see, we are sure to start with a bang and plenty of “keepers”.

Personally, this is also where I've experienced the most beautiful sunsets in all my time traveling across Africa. With the open flood plains along the river and the low angle from the boat, we have the perfect opportunity to capture silhouettes of the bigger mammals against the setting African sun.

Activities Day 1

You'll arrive at Kasane Airport, where you'll be picked up and taken to the Pangolin Chobe Hotel for a meet and greet with the rest of the group.

The Pangolin Voyager is moored on the Namibian side of the river, so you will enter Namibia with a very straightforward and simple border experience.

After settling in, we will head out on our first boat Safari on the Chobe River in the search for great photographic opportunities.

After a delicious brunch there will be a hosted image review and group editing sessions in-between game activities. For this to be truly effective you will need to have your laptop with you with the latest version of an editing programme installed and updated.

Accommodation Day 1 to 3

Pangolin Voyager Houseboat

On Pangolin Voyager Houseboat you're staying on Chobe River which is a very unique way to experience the river, since you in the mist of all the action.

The Pangolin Voyager has five cabins, so the group will have exclusivity for the first week of the safari. We have two different mooring spots along The Chobe River and we will visit them both while onboard. Alongside the houseboat is one of our eight-seater photo boats, which we will use for our morning and afternoon activities out on the river looking for subjects to photograph.

The house boat gives us the unique possibility to travel further down the river away from the other boats coming from Kasane, and we often have the sightings all to ourselves.

Please note: in 2025 a completely new houseboat is being built, and the photos will be updates as soon as they're available.

Day 4 to 6

Chobe River and National Park

Making our way back to Pangolin Chobe Hotel, which is on the Botswana side of Chobe, we can now access the national park for game drives focusing on finding more land based animals. As well as exploring parts of the river we can't access from Namibia, ensuring you get ot experience the river in it's entirety.
